Parent volunteers read to their children both at home and in the centers, they participate in educational games to support the curriculum, assist the teaching staff with classroom activities, field trips, serving on committees, and can assist in other ways. Community persons volunteer their time by spending time in the classrooms, providing space for Head Start activities and programming and volunteer their expertise to train staff and parents. Some of the community volunteers include: church groups, professional organizations, corporations, college students, librarians, social workers, fire and police officers; and lawyers. Doctors and dentist volunteer by providing some services to the children free or at a reduced rate. Training for volunteers by program staff is on-going.
